METHOD 1 - DIY CURTAIN CLEANING
This is the most economical way for curtain cleaning, but it is also the most time & effort consuming curtain cleaning method. Limitation? You have to make sure your curtain is safe for normal wash. Since you are the curtain cleaner yourself, the cost of cleaning is basically “0” Besides, you also get to do some cardio workout while getting your curtain cleaned. Here is how you can do it yourself:
Step 1 – Get a stable ladder to remove all the curtains and their hooks. Ensure all curtains are labelled. (IMPORTANT: Double check to make sure all hooks are removed! Or else it will cause serious damages to your curtain on your next step)
Step 2 – Get a large laundry net, and put the one piece of curtain in one laundry net, set your washer to “Gentle” or “Delicate Wash”. Slow speed or do not tumble dry if possible. Hang it to almost dry condition.
Step 3 – On your final step, you may put the hook in place and install back the curtains.
Why hang back the curtain before it’s fully dried? The reason is, doing so will encourage the curtain to be straighten up by the work of gravity itself. Hence reducing crevices and straighten it automatically.
METHOD 2 - SEMI DIY CURTAIN CLEANING (SORT OF)
If you are not interesting or do not wish to take the risk of damaging your curtains, you can however do it the Semi DIY Curtain Cleaning way. Simply dismantle the curtain & remove the hooks, and send them to your dry cleaner and let them do the dirty works for you. Once they are done with the cleaning, just collect them, put back the hooks and hang them back. You are simply paying for the dry cleaning cost (usually by /KG). But bear in mind for black out curtains for denser fabric materials tends to be heavy and can cost a bomb. Always weigh it and know your cost of cleaning first handling it to your dry cleaner.
